Morast weds Indonesian bride

Jonathan Morast of Wylie and Habibah of Jakarta, Indonesia, were united in marriage April 10, 2008, in Hagatna, Guam.

Senator Ray Tenorio officiated the ceremony.

The bride is the daughter of the late Mangku and Nesih Abdullah of Jakarta. (In Indonesian culture, young women do not use last names until they are married.)

The groom is the son of Randy and Jo Morast of Wylie.
The groom graduated from Wylie High School in 2000. He is serving in the United States Navy and is assigned to Carrier Air Wing 5 aboard the aircraft carrier USS Kitty Hawk stationed in Tokyo, Japan.

There will be a reception for the couple in Wylie at a later date.

The couple will reside in Okinawa, Japan.

Joneses celebrate golden anniversary

Willie and Alice Faye (Vatin) Jones of Wylie are celebrating 50 years of marriage.

The couple was married Aug. 31, 1957, in Greenville.

Mr. Jones is retired from the city of Wylie. Mrs. Jones is retired from Winters Park Rehabilitation Center.

They have 10 children, Willie Jr., Wanda, Alice, Pat, Becky, Genia, Ted, Janet, Monica and Leslie; 23 grandchildren and 15 great-grandchildren.

Their family said the couple enjoys gardening and spending time with their family, especially their grandchildren.

There will be a celebration in honor of Mr. and Mrs. Jones at 6 p.m. Saturday, April 26, at the Bart Peddicord Community Center, 100 W. Oak St.

Carey, Todorovich exchange vows

Rachel Carey of Wylie and Micho Todorovich of Chicago, Ill. were united in marriage Jan. 7, 2008, in El Paso.

The bride is the daughter of Laurie and Tim Carey of Wylie. The groom is the son of Fransisco and Mary Aguirre of Chicago, Ill.

The bride graduated from Wylie High School in 2004 and is a senior at the Universtiy of Texas at El Paso where she is majoring in biology with a geology minor. The groom is a Spec 4 serving in the U.S. Army.

There will be a reception for the couple in June in Wylie.
The newlyweds will live in El Paso.


Martins celebrate 50 years of marriage

Allen and Shirley Martin of Murphy celebrated 50 years of marriage April 11. They were married April 11, 1958.

They have two children, Jackie of Corsicana and Heydon of Allen; five grandchildren and two great-grandchildren. They are members of Murphy Road Baptist Church.

Mrs. Martin graduated from Wylie High School in 1956.

She is retired from Texas Transformers in Plano after 33 years of employment there. Mr. Martin graduated from Wylie High School in 1953. He retired from the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, Fort Worth District after 41 years of service.

According to their family, the Martins now enjoy traveling to different parts of the country.
