Geels named to All-Region team

Derek Geels, a standout midfielder for the Pirates, was named to the Region II team.

Wylie head coach George Velten said the Pirates had several players up for the recognition, but only Geels was selected.

“Derek had a fantastic year for us, and played well both defensively and offensively from his central midfield role.

He is only the fourth player from Wylie High School to be selected to the All-Region team, and he is very deserving of the selection,” he said.
