Esther Clara Martha Lorenz Rhodes
Funeral services for Esther Clara Martha Lorenz Rhodes, 81, were held May 5, 2008, at Wylie United Methodist Church. Interment followed at Restland Memorial Park in Dallas.
The Rev. Kathryn Strempke officiated.
Mrs. Rhodes died May 2 in Garland.
She was born Aug. 9, 1926, in Fredericksburg to the late Wilham Edwin and Sophie (Schmidt) Lorenz.
She was a member of Wylie United Methodist Church.
Survivors include sons, Larry Rhodes and Dennis Wayne Rhodes of Chouteau, Okla., brother, Clemenz Lorenz of Johnson City; seven grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband Lewie Alden Rhodes and son Alan Lynn Rhodes.
Arrangements were under the direction of Allen Funeral Home of Wylie.
Joe Bob Edwards
A memorial service for Joe Bob Edwards of Wylie will be held at 3 p.m. May 10, 2008, at Eastgate Funeral Home in Garland.
Mr. Edwards died April 30, 2008.
He was born June 14, 1934.
Survivors include daughter, Darla Sherman of Wylie; son, Joe Bob Edwards Jr; brother, Jimmy Edwards of Omaha; several grandchildren and many other family members and friends.
His mother Lucille McGee preceded him in death.
Donna Farrar Griner
Services for Donna Farrar Griner, 67, were held May 6, 2008, at Northplace Church in Sachse.
Mrs. Griner died May 3 of brain cancer.
According to her family, Mrs. Griner had three goals in her life: that souls are saved, God is glorified and her testimony of faith lives for generations to come. They said she far exceeded her goals and that many lives have been changed as a result of her testimony and faith.
Survivors include her husband of 49 years, Terry; brother, Randie Farrar; four children, Terri Lynn and her husband Dan, Teresa and her husband Kelly, Tim and his wife Linda, Tracy and her husband Shawn; and 10 grandchildren, Nathan, Tyler, Kaitlyn, ReAnn, Christopher, Brandon, Kelsie, Kendal, Kolton and Zachary.
Arrangements were under the direction of Charles W Smith & Sons Funeral Home of Sachse.
Ruth Nancy Nicklas
Funeral services for Ruth Nancy Nicklas, 88, of Wylie were held May 5, 2008, at First Baptist Church of Wylie.
Interment would follow at the Memory Garden Memorial Park in Brea, Calif.
The Rev. Ray Richey officiated.
Mrs. Nicklas died May 2 in Garland.
She was born May 7, 1919, in Akron, Ohio, to the late Peter and Florence (Rhoades) Conrad. She married Bruno Nicklas in January 1946 in Akron and was a member of First Baptist Church of Wylie.
Survivors includ her sons, Peter L. Nicklas of Wylie and Lloyd Nicklas of Hemet, Calif.; four grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren.
Arrangements were under the direction of Allen Funeral Home of Wylie.
George Lynn Hobby
Graveside services for George Hobby, 67, of Wylie were held May 5, 2008, at the Dallas-Fort Worth National Cemetery.
Mr. Hobby died May 1 in Rowlett.
He was born in Adel, Ga., to the late George Ben and Geneva (Erskine) Hobby.
Mr. Hobby served in the United States Air Force during the Vietnam War. He married Joyce Elaine Womack Sept. 7, 1963, in Dallas. He was a body shop mechanic and did the paint and body work.
Survivors include his wife, Joyce Hobby of Wylie; son, Deric Hobby of Wylie; daughter, Vikki Prather of Lavon; sisters, Patricia Thalme of Chattahoochee, Fla., and Judy Miller of Woodville, Fla.; brother, Bobby Hobby of Alapaha, Ga.; five grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
Arrangements were under the direction of Allen Funeral Home of Wylie.

Justin Wayne Russell
Funeral services for Justin Wayne Russell, 19, of Wylie were held April 26, 2008, at Murphy Road Baptist Church.
Interment followed at the Wylie Cemetery.
The Rev. Paul Reid officiated.
Mr. Russell died April 22 in Wylie.
He was born Aug. 23, 1988, in Jacksonville to Herman Ray Russell, Jr. and Charmagne Renee (Gilbert) Bender.
Mr. Russell graduated from Wylie High School where he participated on the wrestling team. He was self-employed as an arborist. He was married to Sarah Elizabeth Chesson.
Survivors include his wife, Sarah Russell of Wylie; daughter, Gracie Elizabeth Russell of Wylie; parents, Bryan and Charmagne Bender of Wylie, Herman Ray Russell Jr. of Longview, David and Liz Chesson of Wylie; brothers, Christopher Ray Russell of Wylie and Collin Ray Russell of Wylie; grandparents, Harold Wayne Gilbert of Wagoner, Okla. and Ray and Carol Bender of Richardson.

Brock Alan Banks
Funeral services for Brock Alan Banks, 19, of Wylie were held April 26, 2008, at Murphy Road Baptist Church.
Interment followed at the Wylie Cemetery.

Mr. Banks died April 22 in Wylie.
He was born Sept. 7, 1988, in Richardson to Greg Alan and Donna Jean (Squiers) Banks.
Mr. Banks graduated from Wylie High School. He was a member of Big Spring Baptist Church in Richardson and was a self-employed arborist.
Survivors include his parents, Greg and Donna Banks of Wylie; sister, Brittany Banks of Irving; brother, Ryan Bowlen of Irving; grandparents, Dalton and Wanda Banks of Winnsboro, Royce Squiers of Whitehouse and Anita Hanson of Tyler and a son expected in August, Peyton Alan.

Judith Elaine Childress
Graveside services for Judith Elaine Childress, 61, of Plano were held April 29, 2008, at the Wylie Cemetery.
Mrs. Childress died April 25 in Plano after a long illness.
She was born Nov. 1, 1946, in Franklin, Penn., to the late Arthur and Marjorie (Weber) Harrah.
She was of the Jehovah’s Witness faith.
Survivors include her son, Timothy Ray Childress of Stevensville; brother, Richard Harrah of Log Cabin and sister, Carol A. Stryker of Mesa, Ariz.
Arrangements were under the direction of Allen Funeral Home of Wylie.
Mildred Fiola (Davis) Van Pelt
Graveside services for Mildred Fiola (Davis) Van Pelt, 93, of Plano were held April 30, 2008, at the Pleasant Mound Cemetery in Dallas.
Dr. Chris Seidlitz officiated.
Mrs. Van Pelt died April 26 in Richardson.
She was born Jan. 15, 1915, in Dallas to the late George Millard and Ida (Hodges) Davis. She was a member of the Colonial Hills Baptist Church of Cedar Hill.
Survivors include daughters, Patricia Ann Blatney of Rowlett and Paula V. Henderson of Plano; brother, Homer Davis of Rockwall; sisters, Leeta Fae Michaels of Dallas and Alberta Bargaimes of Rockwall; four grandchildren, nine great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild.

Graveside services for Nellie Mural Horton, 86, of Wylie were held April 23, 2008, at Nevada Cemetery in Nevada.
The Rev. Patrick Archibald officiated.
Mrs. Horton died April 20, 2008, in Wylie.
She was born May 20, 1921, in Ada, Okla., to Gabe and Ada Beck Lewis.
Mrs. Horton was a long time resident of Farmersville and was a member of Trinity Baptist Church in Farmersville.
She married W.T. Horton Sept. 3, 1938, in McKinney.
Survivors include her daughters, Ann Williams of Wylie and Linda Newman of Quinlan; sisters, Lane Lewis of Venus, Irene Owens of Jacksboro and Jo Claunch of Houston; grandchildren, Ron Hines, Greg Hines, Bill Barton and Stacie Gooch; and great-grandchildren, Natali Gooch, Michelle Gooch and Shelby Barton.
Arrangements were under the direction of Hurst’s Fielder-Baker Funeral Home, Inc. of Farmersville.
Jerry ‘Bo’ Dickerson
Funeral services for Jerry “Bo” Dickerson, 72, of Alba were held April 20, 2008, at the First Baptist Church in Blue Ridge. Interment followed at the Blue Ridge Cemetery in Blue Ridge.
The Rev. Randy Bird and the Rev. Billy Harris officiated.
Mr. Dickerson was born Oct. 19, 1935, in Kaufman County to William Franklin and Sarah Belcher Dickerson. He married Nancy Sanders Nov. 30, 1957, in Murphy and was a veteran of the United States Army.
Survivors include his wife Nancy Dickerson of Alba; daughter, Terry Ritter of Farmersville; sons, Bubba Dickerson of Commerce, Bill Dickerson of Wills Point, Tony Dickerson of Blue Ridge; brother, Dub Dickerson of Wylie; sisters, Alline Ereckson of Wylie, Pauline Johnson of Wylie and Flora Mae Lee of Tom, Okla.; grandchildren, Toni Dickerson, Rachael Smith, Rebecca Dickerson, Kolton Dickerson and Hunter Dickerson; great-grandchildren Micah Dickerson, Riley Smith and Autumn Smith.

Rosary was read for Jarrell David Cuellar, 43, of Garland April 10, 2008, at St. Anthony Catholic Church in Wylie.
Mass was conducted April 11, 2008, at St. Anthony Catholic Church. Interment followed at Calvary Hill Cemetery in Dallas.
Mass was conducted by Father Loyd Morris.
Mr. Cueller died April 6, 2008, in Garland.
He was born Aug. 5, 1964, in Waco to Gloria Hernandez Cuellar and the late Jose Rufus Cuellar.
Mr. Cueller was an electronics specialist with Sam’s Club #4783 where he worked for 13 years. He was a member of St. Anthony Catholic Church of Wylie.
Survivors include his mother, Gloria H. Cuellar of Wylie; sisters, Yvonne Martinez and her husband Larry of Wylie and Debbie Meyer and her husband Dave of Canyon Lake; brother, Victor Cuellar and his wife Nenita Cuellar of Garland; niece, Maya Cuellar of Garland and nephews, Nathan Martinez of Dallas and Adrian Martinez of Irving.

Jerry Wayne Miller
Funeral services for Jerry Wayne Miller, 40, of Wylie were held April 8, 2008, at Allen Funeral Home Chapel.
Interment followed at the Wylie Cemetery.

Mr. Miller Died April 4, 2008, in Wylie after a traffic accident.
He was born in Garland to Billy Joe Pruitt and Lucille Miller Hamilton. He married Jann Rene Smith Aug. 11, 2007, in Wylie.
Survivors include his wife, Jann Miller of Wylie; parents Lucille Hamilton and Billy Joe Pruitt; children, Joshua Miller, Brittany Miller, Kade Miller and Hunter Miller; stepchildren, Alex, Krystal, Jared, Tiara and Brianna; granddaughter, Hailey; sister, Micheall Turner; brothers, Billy Gean Miller, Billy Ray Miller, Bud Miller, Michael Turner, Randy Turner and Buster Pruitt; half-sisters, Renne Pruitt, Angie Pruitt, Ivory Pruitt and Billie Pruitt; half-brothers, Joe Glenn Pruitt and Randy Terry.

Vera Mozelle Taylor
Graveside services for Vera Mozelle Taylor, 95, of Pottsboro, formerly of Wylie, where she lived for over 50 years were held March 15, 2008, at Ridgeview Memorial Park in Allen.
Mrs. Taylor died March 12, 2008, in Denison.
She was born April 24, 1912, in Pampa to Mosses Newton and Betty (Poteet) Hartline.
Mrs. Taylor was a member of the Assembly of God faith.
Survivors include son, Billy Joe Taylor of Pottsboro; six grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; a number of great-great-grandchildren; sisters, Hattie Hartline Stewart of Richardson and Minnie Hartline Hooper of Allen; brother, Oscar Hartline of Farmersville and daughter-in-law, Judy Steele Diaz of Denison. She was preceded in death by her husband, Earl Taylor; son, Bobby Glen Taylor; grandson, Gordon Bruce Taylor; brothers, Jess, Dewey, Pete, Aubrey and Horace Hartline and sister, Irma Hartline Kyle.

Mrs. Williams died April 11, 2008.
She was born Feb. 16, 1915, in Newlin to the late Arthur and Ora (Crow) Pierce.
Mrs. Williams was a member of the White Bluff Chapel in Whitney.
She married Lloyd Cecil Williams Oct. 15, 1931, in Hollis, Okla. He preceded her in death.
Survivors include sons and daughters-in-law, Gary L. and Karen Williams of Whitney, Bobby D. and Ann Williams of Wylie; nine grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren and two great-great grandchildren.

Patsy (Pat) Lou Rushing

Mrs. Rushing died April 11 at her residence after a long illness.
She was born Dec. 16, 1933, in Aquilla to the late Marion V. and Fannie Madlin (Fowler) Glenn. She was of the Baptist faith.
Survivors include sons and daughter-in-law, Mike and Janelle Ponfick of Bedford, Billy Bob Story of Blue Ridge; daughters, Debbie Lewis of Wylie, Carol Ryburn of Wylie; stepson, James H. Rushing and his wife Debra of Garland; stepdaughters and their husbands, Linda and Don Henry of Rowlett, Nancy and Rowdy Rodamaker of Mesquite; 13 grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.

Charles Thomas Freeman Jr.
Charles Thomas Freeman Jr. of Wylie died March 29, 2008, in Rowlett.
He was born Aug. 29, 1974, in Dallas to Charles Thomas Freeman Sr. and Diane Johnson Freeman.
He married Jennifer Elizabeth Clark on April 11, 1998, in Wylie. He was employed by Wal-Mart where he worked in the produce department.
Survivors include his wife, Jennifer of Wylie; daughters, Celeste Freeman and Jazmine Clark of Wylie; father and stepmother, Charles Thomas Freeman Sr. and Laura Freeman of Rockwall; mother and stepfather, Diane Freeman and Juan Cruz of Arkansas City, Kan.; sister, Michelle Rose of Garland; brothers, Randall Freeman of Wylie, Robert Freeman of Garland, Brandon Rose of Rockwall, Travis Rose of Rockwall and Ray Amaya of Rockwall.

Roy Glenn Allen
Funeral services for Roy Glenn Allen of Garland were held April 7, 2008, at Highland Oak Church of Christ. Burial followed at Wylie Cemetery.
Minister George Baker officiated.
Mr. Allen died April 3, 2008, in Rowlett.
He was born Aug. 10, 1931, in Dallas to the late Owen Kildare and Delphine (Bozeman) Allen.
According to his family, Mr. Allen joined the United States Air Force after graduating from high school. He served during the Korean War. He married Janita Ann Summers May 31, 1958, in Dallas. She preceded him in death. He was retired from Safeway and had been a member of the Highland Oaks Church of Christ in Dallas.
Survivors include sons, Keith Allen and his wife Tammy of Sachse and Doug Allen and his wife Loretta also of Sachse and two grandchildren, Mikah Allen and Danielle Allen.
Arrangements were under the direction of Allen Funeral Home of Wylie.
Margaret Lee Clifton
Memorial services for Margaret Lee Clifton, 80, were held April 3, 2008, at Charles W Smith and Sons Chapel in Sachse.
Mrs. Clifton died March 31, 2008, in Wylie.
She was born June 7, 1927, in Cincinnati, Ohio to the late James and Louise Steely Harris.
Survivors include her children, Priscilla and her husband Reggie, Patricia Puckett, Michael and his wife Donna, James and his wife Carol, Mary and Joe, Pamela Christopher, Tina Clifton and Marcelle Jones; grandchildren, Bobbi, J.J., Alex, Dallas Ann, Michael, John, Jess, Tonya, Amanda, Anita, J.T., Shawn, Melissa, Bryan, Dereck, Kyle, Brent, Alisha, Ashleigh, Jessica and Shayla; 19 great-grandchildren and sister, Nancy. She was preceded in death by her husband Jesse Lee Clifton.

Mrs. Kirby died April 2, 2008, in Rowlett.
She was born Aug. 21, 1914, in Nevada to the late Richard and Eva E. (Watkins) Evans. She married Cecil Raymond Kirby May 14, 1938, in Farmersville and was a member of First Baptist Church of Wylie.
Survivors include son Charles Kirby and his wife Mary of Garland; daughter Fonda Quinn and her husband Bobby of Terrell; four grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.
Arrangements were under the direction of Allen Funeral Home of Wylie.
Martha Frieda Vik
Memorial services for Martha Frieda Vik, 92, of Nevada were held April 1, 2008, at Allen Funeral Home Chapel.
The Rev. Terry Mitchell officiated.
Mrs. Vik died March 30, 2008, in Garland.
She was born Oct. 31, 1915, in Zap, N.D. to the late Jacob and Christine (Klaus) Kraft. She was a member of the Church of God. She married Chris Vik Oct. 3, 1936, in Big Timber, Mont. He preceded her in death.
Survivors include her son Sheldon Vik and his wife Jean of Nevada and grandchildren Lydell Vik and Jeremy Vik.

Ernestine Lougean Allen
Funeral services for Ernestine Lougean Allen of Wylie were March 27, 2008, at the First Baptist Church of Wylie.
The Rev. Ray Richey, The Rev. Rob Phillips and The Rev. Walter Allen officiated.
Mrs. Allen died March 24 in Garland.
She was born Oct. 9, 1926, in Nevada to the late Albert Arnel and Oda (Horton) Wilson.
She married Odil Z. Allen on Nov. 1, 1946, in Wylie.
Survivors include son, Dennis Allen and his wife Dianne of Daingerfield; daughter, DeRhonda Phillips and her husband Rob of Tyler; grandchildren, Shawn Phillips, Brittney Phillips, Heather Allen and great-grandson Zaden White. She was preceded in death by her parents, Albert and Oda Wilson; husband, Odil Allen and granddaughter, Shannon White.
In lieu of flowers the family requests donations be made to the Wylie Cemetery Association.

LaVerne Joseph Feld
Funeral services for LaVerne Joseph Feld were held March 27, 2008, at First Baptist Church Wylie. The Rev. Ray Richey officiated.
Interment followed in Wylie Cemetery.
Mr. Feld died March 24 in Plano.
He was born June 25, 1933, in Carroll, Iowa, to the late Linus and Clara (Loew) Feld.
He served in the U.S. Army during the Korean War. Mr. Feld married Marian Louise Moore Sept. 4, 1956, in Carroll, Iowa. He was a maintenance supervisor at Rockwell International prior to his retirement.
He is survived by his wife, Marian Feld of Wylie; children, Jeff Feld and his wife Paula of Wylie and Diane Feld of Mesquite, Nev.; sister Jeane Snyder of Carroll, Iowa; brothers, James Feld of Camden, Tenn. and Ron Feld of Simpsonville, S.C.; and five grandchildren, Randi Feld, Kelly Feld, Stephanie Feld, Jeremy Matteson and Joel Matteson.

Bonnie Lee Robertson Bunch
Funeral services for Bonnie Lee Robertson Bunch of Sachse were March 19, 2008. Burial followed at Restland Cemetery.
Mrs. Bunch died March 16.
She was born April 6, 1926, in Lawrence Okla., to the late Janie and W.C. Robertson.
Survivors include sister and brother-in-law, Shirley and Wayne Biggs of Ada, Okla.; children Caroll Jo and Tom Watts of Smithville, Janie Elliott of Angel Fire, N.M., Sandi and George Sossamon of Farmersville, Debbie Bunch of Sachse, James Bunch of Rowlett and numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Master Sgt. John H. Bunch, her brothers, Lloyd Robertson and Bob Robertson, both of Ada, Okla., grandson Ryan Redoble and great-grandson Tommy Watts III.
Mary Alice McDaniel
Memorial services for Mary Alice McDaniel of Lavon were held March 24, 2008, in Garland.
Mrs. McDaniel died of cancer March 22.
She was born June 15, 1949, in St. Louis, Mo., to Bud and Theresa (Hess) Sewell.
She married Lyndall McDaniel June 15, 1980, in Olatha, Kan.
According to her family, she was a wonderful wife, mother, friend, sister and aunt who loved gardening and making things grow. She was an avid reader and loved to travel.
As a preacher’s wife, she was able to make friends all over the country, they said. Her family said she loved to teach, especially little children.
She was a member of the Lavon Church of Christ.
Survivors include her husband, Lyndall McDaniel of Lavon; her children and their families, Dale McDaniel, Kathi Littrell, Jonathan McDaniel, Susie Miles and Joey McDaniel; father, Bud Sewell and his wife Carolyn; sister, Sarah Conking and her husband Bill; brother, James Sewell and his wife Rita; 12 grandchildren and one great-grandchild.
She was preceded in death by her mother, Theresa Sewell.
Arrangements were under the direction of Allen Funeral Home of Wylie.
