Wylie City Councilman Bennie Jones is hosting a lake safety, drug awareness and gang prevention training session from 8 a.m. to noon Saturday, Aug. 6, for kids age 9 to 18.

The event will take place at East Fork Park on Lake Lavon.

Game Warden LeRoy Thompson of Texas Park and Wildlife will conduct lake safety training including a ride-out.

Officers from Wylie PD and a narcotics officer from Dallas PD will discuss drug and gang awareness.

Wylie Fire-Rescue will demonstrate water rescue techniques.
