Wylie East continued its impressive play Friday with a 6-3 victory over Sherman. The Raiders are now 3-0 in 13-4A play, and they hosted Greenville on Tuesday and travel Friday to Royse City and then to Trophy Club on Saturday, March 23, for a noon non-district contest.
District play resumes Tuesday, March 26, at home against McKinney North.
Jesse Brubaker went 1-for-3 Friday, while Bryar Barnes struck out 13 Bearcat batters in a complete-game performance, which included allowing no walks the entire evening.
East scored five runs in the third inning to take the lead for good.
The Raiders won round one of their crosstown district battle with Wylie, dropping the Pirates 4-1 during a March 12 game at the Pirates’ home field.
Winning pitcher Garrett McCain had 13 strikeouts and had an RBI single in a two-run first inning. Todd Richards, who scored on McCain’s single, also had an RBI in that inning.
Wylie (0-3 in 13-4A) fell 6-4 Friday to Greenville, a contest in which the Pirates collected 10 hits, including doubles from Darius Carter, Bradley Marquez and Dylan Queen.
