Rex Hawkins, 80, of Wylie passed away in Rowlett on Sept. 4, 2012.

He was born Feb. 14, 1932, in Merkel.  His parents were the late Joseph Issaac and Willie Bernice (Hardcastle) Hawkins.  Rex married Emmaline Sharp on Feb. 18, 1961, in Lubbock.

Surviving Rex is his wife, Emmaline Hawkins of Wylie; daughters, Malinda Fields and her husband James of Blooming Grove and Alicia Cook of Allen; two brothers, Wayne Hawkins and Odus Hawkins; five sisters, Fern Bulls, Linda Hawkins, Joan McPherson, Lora Shank and Lola Merrick; four grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.

Visitation was held at Allen Funeral Home from 6 to 8 p.m. on Thursday, Sept. 6, 2012. Funeral services were held at 3 p.m. Friday, Sept. 7, 2012, in the Allen Funeral Home Chapel. Minister Eric Hogue officiated. Interment followed in Millwood Cemetery.

Arrangements were under the direction of Allen Funeral Home of Wylie.
