
Services for Sharon Simmons Porter, 74, of Wylie, were held at 3 p.m. Thursday, Aug. 30, at Allen Funeral Home, 508 Masters, Wylie, Texas 75098.
Mrs. Porter passed away on Thursday, Aug. 23, 2012, from heart failure.
She was born in Rhinebinder, Wisc. on May 31, 1938, to Earl and Marguerite Collett.
Sharon loved crafting of all kinds and made clothes for her children, family and friends. She donated generously to many individuals and organizations her entire life as she opened her home and her heart to anyone who knocked. She also gave open-heartedly to New Beginnings Center in Garland.
Sharon loved life and her family, caring about everyone else until her last breath. She recently retired from L3 where she worked for over 30 years through multiple mergers.
She is survived by her sister, Phyllis Quam; her children, Laura Gray and Randy Simmons; seven grandchildren, 15 great-grandchildren and countless adopted family and friends.
She was preceded in death by her first husband, Chet Simmons, and her second husband, Tomas Porter.
A celebration of her life will follow at her home: 3012 Dylan Dr., Wylie, Texas. All are welcome.
