
Funeral services for Dakota Shane Boles, 19, of Josephine, formerly of Powderly, were held at 2 p.m., Wednesday, Aug. 8, 2012, in the gymnasium of North Lamar High School. Interment followed at Knights of Honor Cemetery in Blossom.
The Rev. Kathy French and Paul Allen officiated.
Mr. Boles died Friday, Aug. 3, 2012, at Parkland Hospital in Dallas.
Dakota was born Sept. 24, 1992, in Dallas, to Johnny Mac and Gayla Jean Owens Boles. He graduated from North Lamar High School were he excelled in football. His other interests included hunting, fishing and working out. He had served in the US Army National Guard.
Survivors include his parents, Gayla Roberts and her husband Joey of Powderly and Johnny Mac Boles and his wife Carolyn of Josephine; three brothers, Kaleb Lee Gurley of Arthur City, Justin Ray Boles and Hunter Mac Leon Boles, both of Josephine; one sister, Marandia DeLynn Boles of Josephine; his grandparents, Mac and Jeanette Boles of Josephine, Carl and Martha Owens of Powderly, Sue Roberts of Blossom, and Jerry and Carol Harrison of Lavon; Michael Davidson of Grant, Okla., who has been Dakota’s best friend since kindergarten; and numerous aunts, uncles and cousins.
He was preceded in death by a grandfather, Beryl Roberts.
Pallbearers were Michael Davidson, Dillon Wilson, Ty Smith, T.J. Shirley, De’Vin Noiel, Clay Flippen, Kolten Taylor and Dominic Corpus.
