
Joyce Ann Gardner, age 73, of Wylie, formerly of Mt. Vernon, Mo., passed away at 9:26 p.m. on Wed., May 16, 2012, in her home.
She was born Sept. 30, 1938, in Mt. Vernon, Mo., the daughter of Willard Filmore “Wid” and Reba (Adamson) Turk.
Joyce was a 1956 graduate of Mt. Vernon High School and was a registered nurse, retiring as the school nurse for the Wheatland School District.
On March 4, 1959, she married Don “Breezy” Gardner in Mt. Vernon. Joyce followed her husband through 10 different towns where he was superintendent, and they moved 37 times during their lives together. She was a member of the First Baptist Church of Mt. Vernon and also attended the Miller Christian Church.
She will be sadly missed and lovingly remembered by her husband Don of Wylie; two daughters, Kelly Parsons and her husband Kent of Richardson and Shelly Hatton of Wylie; one brother, Fil Turk of Mt. Vernon, Mo.; two sisters, Linda Kristman of Studio City, Calif. and Debbie Ross of Silverdale, Wash.; and five granddaughters, Laruen Pedigo, Liza Parsons, Meredith, Kelley and Kelsey Ryan.
Her parents; one sister, Peggy Mounce; and one brother, Jim Turk, preceded her in death.
A funeral service was held at 3:00 p.m. on Sat., May 19, 2012, in the Fossett-Mosher Funeral Home in Mt. Vernon, Mo. with burial at the Mt. Vernon City Cemetery.
