Funeral services for Morris E. “Morrie” Speicher, 85, of Leesburg, Ind. were held Feb. 6, 2012, at the Eastlund Funeral Home in Syracuse, Ind.  Interment followed at the Speicer Cemetery in Urbana, Ind.

Mr. Speicher died Feb. 2 at the Lutheran Hospital in Fort Wayne, Ind.

He was born Jan. 12, 1927, in Urbana, Ind. To Harold and Mona (Devers) Speicher.  He married Anne Mahaney who survives.  He lived on Lake Tippecanoe since 1988 coming from Wabash.

He graduated from Urbana High School in 1945, then went on to Naperville College in Naperville, Ill.  He was a US Army veteran.  He retired as the Secretary Treasurer for Cyclone Manufacturing after 50 years of service.  He was a life member of the Wabash & North Webster American Legions.  He was a member of the Wabash Elks #471 where he formerly served as Trustee.  He was a member of the Urbana Lions Club and past director of the Wabash Country Club.  He was also a member of the Ft. Wayne Mizpah Shrine.  He enjoyed golfing and spending time on the lake.

Survivors include his wife, Anne Speicher of Leesburg, Ind.; two daughters, Pam Speicher-Urshel of Wylie, and Gayle Manby of Wabash, Ind.; one son, Jeff Speicher and his wife Jennifer of Wylie; three grandchildren, Jeff Urshel, Rachel Speicher and Matthew Speicer; one brother, Daniel Speicher and his wife Barbara of Leesburg, Ind.

He was preceded in death by one sister.

Funeral arrangements were under the direction of Eastlund Funeral Home in Syracuse, Ind. Memorial contributions in Morrie’s name may be made to the Animal Welfare League or you may plant a tree in his memory.
