Funeral services for Ernest (Slim) Hensley, 79, of Wylie, were held Dec. 2, 2011, at the First Baptist Church of Wylie.  Interment followed at the Wylie Cemetery.

The Rev. Tim James and Rev. Thomas Maynard officiated.

He was born Dec. 14, 1931, in Murphy to the late Clifford Samuel Hensley and Ora Mae Swaner Hensley.  He married the late Mavis Chandler on June 30, 1951, in Wylie.

Survivors include his son, Darrell Hensley of Nevada; daughters, Debra Hensley of Wylie and Dorothy Hale of Orange Park, Fla.; brothers, Eugene Hensley, Donald Hensley, Jimmy Hensley and Dennis Hensley; sisters, Shirley Gatton and Oneta Rudd; five grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his loving wife of over 55 years, Mavis Hensley; parents, Clifford and Ora Mae Hensley; brother, Bobby Hensley; sisters, Margaret Morrison and Erma Morgan.

Arrangements were under the direction of Allen Funeral Home of Wylie.
