James E. “Buddy” Green died Aug. 17, 2011, at Plano Medical Center in Plano. There will be a memorial service at 6 p.m. Friday, Aug. 26, at First Baptist Church Wylie, 100 N. First St.
He was born Oct. 11, 1951, in Coeburn, Va., to Kyle Winford and Nell (Coomer) Green.
Mr. Green graduated from Coeburn High School and attended Clinch Valley College. Later, he became a police officer for the city of Coeburn.
After relocating to Lubbock, he worked for more than 20 years in the Lubbock and Dallas area for Texas Instruments and Raytheon. For the last 12 years, he was employed at Mary Kay, Inc. in the Protective Services department. There, he was a four-time Employee of the Year honoree – the highest honor awarded by his department.
According to his family, Mr. Green was a dedicated family man who loved gardening, reading, history, motorcycles and playing bass guitar for years in the “Purple Haze” band.
He was a member of First Baptist Church Wylie.
He is survived by wife, Lisa; daughter, Jamie; granddaughter, London; mother, Nell Green; brothers, Larry W. Green and Rick A. Green and his wife Emma; nieces and nephew Nisha, Jade and Matt; mother-in-law, Josephine A. McCauley of Jonesville, Va.; brother-in-law, Joe S. McCauley and his wife Janet of Seymour, Tenn.; special family friends, Debbie McNeice, Dr. Jorge and Stacy Brothers of Lubbock and Jamie and Brandon White of Frisco; and several other family members.
Mr. Green’s ashes will be returned to the Appalachian Mountains of Virginia, for a graveside service.
