Mr. Jackson died July 2 in Wylie.

He was born Sept. 25, 1942, in Blackwell, Ark., to Arland Carl and Bessie Cates Jackson.  He grew up in Morrilton, Ark. and was in FFA.

He earned his accounting degree from Arkansas Tech and was one of the first to become a CPA in his state. He became a partner with a small firm that was later acquired by Arthur Young, now Ernst and Young. He was a bank auditor and an author of an AICPA textbook. Mr. Jackson was a University of Arkansas Razorbacks fan. He also enjoyed golf, fishing and his grandchildren.

He was in ROTC and served in the Army Infantry and in the Army Reserves, retiring as a captain. He was active in his Christian faith, serving as a Sunday School teacher, a deacon and an elder. He served in ministry to the youth and went on several mission trips. He was a member of Woodcreek Church in Richardson.

Survivors include his wife of 48 years, Jana; son, Bentley; daughters, Alissa Benoit and her husband Christopher and Melanie Brown and her husband Jay; granddaughters, Meagan Jackson, Morgan Jackson and Madeline Jackson, Tori Brown and Abby Brown; great-grandson, Jason Jackson; brother, Allan Jackson and his wife Gency; niece, Jilana Barnes; nephew, A. J. Jackson; great-nieces Haley Barnes and Taylor Barnes; and great- nephew, Tanner Barnes.

Arrangements were under the direction of Charles W. Smith & Sons in Sachse.
