Funeral services for Janice Sue Edwards of Sachse were held July 6, 2011, at First Baptist Church Wylie. Interment followed at Restland Cemetery.

Mrs. Edwards died June 27.
She was born March 9, 1940, to Kermit W. Cook and Chalna Cook in Hartford, Ky.
She married Bob Edwards in July 1956, and they lived in Louisville, Ky. According to her family members, Mrs. Edwards “kept her promise to her dad” by going to night school to receive her high school diploma while her husband worked at General Electric and built homes.
In 1969 they purchased a cosmetic distributorship and built a retail organization selling mink oil cosmetics. Mr. and Mrs. Edwards were promoted to area directors in Louisiana and Florida, then promoted to regional vice presidents in Dallas until they left the company two years later.
Mrs. Edwards received an associate degree in child development from Brookhaven College. She was a day care director for Webb Chapel Baptist Church in Farmers Branch; then she and her husband bought the Allen Child Development Center, where she was in charge of operations. When they sold that business, Mrs. Edwards went to work with ESS Business School as student housing director.
Her family said she was always active in church and was “mission minded.” She was a volunteer at Buckner International Shoes for Orphan Souls and went on mission trips to Guatemala.
Mrs. Edwards is survived by her husband of 54 years, Bob; son, Todd Edwards and his wife Debbie; daughters, Cathryn Jimenez and her husband Ruben and Cincy Oertle and her husband Gary; brothers, Sonny Cook and Doug Cook, both of Beaver Dam, Ky.; 13 grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; and many nieces, nephews and friends.
The family said they would like to thank everyone for their prayers and support during Mrs. Edwards’ illness.
