He was a member of the First Assembly of God Church in Wylie and Higher Trails Cowboy Church at Merrit.
His family said he was a person who never sat idle. As a young boy he worked many farm jobs. As an employee of Humble Gas Co., he delivered gas to the area gas stations. He worked at Capital Wire and Cable in Plano as well as Richardson ISD, from which he retired in the ’70s to start his own heating and air conditioning company, Ellis & Son. Later, Mr. Ellis turned the company over to his son, who still runs it.
When he had spare time, he loved to deer hunt and take short vacations with family and friends.
“He was a wonderful, loving husband, father and a great grandpa,” his family said. “He was so proud of his 12 grandchildren and 23 great-grandchildren.”
