Funeral services for Howard “Butch” Wayne Martin, 65, of Wylie were held March 26, 2011, at Charles W. Smith and Sons Funeral Home in Sachse.
Mr. Martin died March 18 in Wylie.
He was born Feb. 28, 1946, in Olney, Ill., to the late Joseph N. Martin and Lottie Fae (Densmore) Martin.
Mr. Martin served in the United States Air Force from 1964 to 1968 and then moved to Dallas. He married Patricia L. Smalley Feb. 11, 1977, in Dallas.
He worked as a machinist at Texas Instruments from 1969 until his retirement in 2003.
According to his family, Mr. Martin was a loving husband, father and grandfather who enjoyed hunting, fishing, golfing and playing dominos and card games.
He and his wife also liked to travel and enjoyed an Alaskan cruise to celebrate their 30th anniversary in 2007, the family said.
Mr. Martin’s “easy-going nature and his ability to laugh – oftentimes even at himself – made him a husband, a father, a relative and a friend who was easy to love,” his family said. “He will be sadly missed and fondly remembered by all who knew him.”
Survivors include his wife, Pat; daughter, Angela L. (Martin) Buckner and her husband Jason; granddaughter, Madison J. Buckner; grandson, Austin R. Buckner; along with many loving sisters-in-law, brothers-in-law, nieces, nephews and cousins.
He was preceded in death by his parents and brother Joe.
