Hal “Chief” Charles Parker, 79, of Wylie died March 17, 2011, in Wylie.

He was born Oct. 24, 1931, in Shreveport, La. He married Dot Axline-Parker five years ago.

Mr. Parker served in the United States Navy during the Korean War and Vietnam Conflicts. He was awarded The Air Medal (with strike flight numbered 2) for his service from Dec. 18, 1966, to June 12, 1967. After his Naval career of 30 years, Mr. Parker formed several business ventures including working of the Pentagon repairing computer systems. 

While living in Maryland, he was a champion bowler and golfer. At age 56, he graduated from Pacific Western University in Los Angeles, Calif.

He was Catholic by faith and a member of VAW 112, Casey Joyce VFW Post #4380, Plano and American Legion Post #321, Plano. His family said he enjoyed The Ranch House and Chili’s Wylie Happy Hours.

Survivors include his wife, Dot of Wylie; sister, Dee of Louisiana; and children, Katherine Rickey, June Cron, Robert Raymond Parker, Lorraine Garland and Sherry LeDuc.
