Mr. Day died March 18.

He was born March 5, 1929, in Birmingham, Ala., to the late Vance and Pauline Day.

He graduated from Woodlawn High School then entered the United States Air Force. He worked as a senior design engineer at the Marshall Space Flight Center in Huntsville, Ala., then as an engineering draftsman for LTV and Oilwell Supply.

His hobbies included music, dancing and woodworking. He was an avid Alabama Crimson Tide and Dallas Cowboys fan as well as an active member of Lavon Drive Baptist Church.

Survivors include his sons, Richard Day and his wife Kelly of Garland and Russell Day and his wife Leslie of Wylie; daughter, Alison Young and her husband Ray of Rowlett; and grandchildren, Elise Young, Austin Day and Reid Young.

“He will be known as a devoted Christian, a loving father and an American veteran throughout eternity,” his family said.
