Funeral services for Jerry Lee Childs, 70, of Rowlett were held Dec. 27, 2010, at Rest Haven Funeral Home – Rowlett Chapel.  Interment followed at Sacred Heart Cemetery.

The Rev. Wesley Slough officiated.

Mr. Childs died Dec. 23. 

He was born Sept. 3, 1940, in Shelby County to Lee A. and Maydell (Blankenship) Childs. He attended the Park Lake Church in Sachse. 

His family said Mr. Childs was “a generous and caring man, completely devoted to his family and friends, and especially his wife Mary Nell from whom he was inseparable.” They said he  was very creative and intelligent. He was dearly loved and will be deeply missed, they said.

Mr. Childs served his country in the U.S. Air Force. 

He is survived by his wife, Mary Nell (Slough) Childs of Rowlett; daughters, Sheila Latorres and her husband Paul of Sachse, Michelle Wilkins of Royse City and Kristin Childs of Pennsylvania; son, David Grizzle and his wife Mary of Farmersville; grandchildren, Ashlee Wilkins, Nicholas Wilkins, Christopher Latorres, Victoria Latorres, Billy McMahon, Cody McMahon, Thorn Wiese and Zakary Childs. He was preceded in death by his parents and one brother.

Memorials may be made to James Robison Life Outreach International.

Arrangements were under the direction of Rest Haven Funeral Home of Rowlett.
