Funeral services for Roland Richard Gibson, 81, of Denton were held Dec. 20, 2010, at the Allen Funeral Home Chapel. Interment followed at the Kreymer Cemetery in Wylie.

The Rev. Truett King officiated.

Mr. Gibson died Dec. 18.

He was born Aug. 4, 1929, in Tishomingo, Okla. to the late Ben Richard Gibson and Agnes Morgan Gibson. He married Georgia Edward Taylor Sept. 20, 1946, in Wylie.

Prior to his retirement he had been a forklift operator for a chemical company in Garland. Mr. Gibson was a member of the Lewisville Bible Church of Lewisville.

Survivors include his wife, Georgia Gibson of Denton; children, Ronald David Gibson of Denton and Sharon Elaine Parsons of Lewisville; brothers, Carl Gibson and Benny Ray Gibson, both of Ben Wheeler; three grandchildren and four great-grandchildren. Roland was preceded in death by his son, Richard Edward Gibson.

Arrangements were under the direction of Allen Funeral Home of Wylie.
