Funeral services for Woody Ray “Gordo” Simmons, 62, of Nevada were held Dec. 1, 2010, at Lone Star Cowboy Church in Nevada.

He was born Dec. 9, 1947, in Garner, N.C. to Raymond and Margaret Simmons.  

Survivors include his wife, Lori Nall Simmons; children, Jeremy Simmons of Wake Forest, N.C., Storee Butscher, Callie Simmons and Woody Simmons, all of Wylie and Cody Simmons of Nevada; three stepchildren, Tina, Chyrstal and Weldon Nall; five grandchildren, all of Nevada; brothers, Tom Simmons and Greg Simmons of Garner, N.C.;  mother, Margaret Simmons of Garner, N.C.; in-laws, Reed and Vivian Butscher, Sherry and Bob London, Amy Butscher and Lisa and Rick O’Connor; nephews, Reed Butscher, Bo London, Jack London and Jake Landers, all of Wylie; nieces, Billie London Grey, Ashley Butscher, Grace Elliott and Hannah Elliott, all of Wylie.

His family said, “Ray made such an impression on all those he met – good or bad. He will be greatly missed.”
