James L. Clark, 86, of Hobart, Ind. and formerly of Wylie, died Sept. 20, 2010.
Funeral services were held Sept. 23 at Geisen Funeral Home in Merrillville, Ind. Pastor Gary Butler officiated, and interment followed at Calumet Park Cemetery in Merrillville, Ind.
Mr. Clark was a Deacon Emeritus at First Baptist Church Wylie and a World War II Army veteran. He served in the South Pacific.
According to his family, he was very involved with community and church activities and an avid St. Louis Cardinal baseball fan. They described him as “a loving husband, father, grandfather and friend who will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved him.”
Surviving are his wife of 68 years, Dorothy; six children, Cathy Bell and her husband Bruce, Barb Burke and her husband John, Bev McLain and her husband Don, Jerry Clark and his wife Susan, Ron Clark and his wife Marcy, and Dave Clark and his wife Tammy; 22 grandchildren; many great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, James M. and Mary Clark and 11 brothers and sisters.
