Bryan and Trena Davis are happy to announce their 50^th wedding anniversary. Bryan is the son of the late Alton and Opal Davis, and Trena is the daughter of the late Dick and Ladine Howard, all from Gilmer. The two have known each other most of their lives; they met when Trena was in the eighth grade and Bryan, the ninth. They became high school sweethearts at East Mountain High School, where Bryan was a fullback on the football team and Trena was a cheerleader, and they were married at the New Hopewell Baptist Church in Gilmer June 30, 1962. Bryan retired from US Brass in Plano after 39 years, and Trena retired from Williams High School Plano ISD after 29 years.

Bryan and Trena will celebrate their 50^th anniversary from 2 to 4 p.m. July 1, 2012, at the Bart Peddicord Community Center in Wylie. Their party will be hosted by their daughter, Jodie Dittman, and their grandchildren, Kayla and Bryan Dittman of Plano. 

Regarding the secret to their long and happy marriage, the couple offered this advice: “Make plenty of time for each other, and do things together. Take an interest in each other’s lives.”
