James and Verbel (Monk) Watson were married in Wylie Nov. 18, 1951, with Galena Moore and the late Curtis Sherrill as attendants.

The couple moved to Garland in 1953, and they have lived there for the past 58 years.

Mr. Watson worked in the automotive industry for many years. He  retired from Tom Thumb. Mrs. Watson retired from GISD Food Services.

The Watsons have three children, Doris Watson Yancey and her husband Bill from Garland, Judy Watson Talley and her husband Jimmy from Wylie and Steve Watson and his wife Moné from  Rockwall; seven grandchildren (and their spouses): Amy and Mark Allred, Mandy and Ryan Hadley, Tasha and Brian Booth, Chris and Nikki Watson, Rebecca Burroughs, Zachary Watson and Kate and Travis Rose;  and 10 great-grandchildren, Christopher, Kyleigh and Caleb Allred, Heath Hadley, Kyler, Melissa and Caedon Booth, Hannah Watson, Waylon Rose and Chandler Allred (deceased).
