The Pirates emerged victorious over McKinney North 40-14 in the District 10-4A finale. They placed third among district contenders with a 5-2 record.
The Pirates face Frisco Wakeland in the bi-district round. The game will be played Friday at McKinney’s Ron Poe Stadium. Kickoff is at 7 p.m.
Highland Park wrapped up a perfect 7-0 record while Rockwall (5-2) placed second by virtue of a victory over Wylie in head-to-head competition.
J.J. Pearce slides into that fourth spot with a 3-4 record.
McKinney (3-4) and McKinney North (3-4) both posted losses against Pearce which gives the Mustangs the nod on the first tiebreaker.
All District 10-4A teams match up against District 9-4A counterparts for the bi-district round. Teams are divided between Div. I and Div. II brackets depending on overall student enrollment.
Wylie (enrollment 2,061) and Rockwall (2,045) are headed to Div. I, while Highland Park (1,903) and Pearce (1,965.5) are slated to Div. II.
In other first-round action, Highland Park meets Frisco Centennial, Rockwall draws Carrollton Newman Smith and Pearce pulls Frisco Liberty.
Wylie East (0-7) fell 54-10 to Rockwall Heath (2-5) in their season finale.
